I am who I am
I do what I do
I love who I love
And it doesn't matter who.
I am who I am
but people judge what that is
they don't understand and seem like
they dont--want to.
I am pagan,
Wiccan to be exact
A witch if you want to be cruel,
I am not evil
I do no wrong
It is against my religion to take the life
of any living thing
And no...I can't fly.
I am what I am
I'm proud of that
but people, after all these years
Still think I'm evil
because of what I believe.
Years ago my, people were burned,
tortured and drowned
And some people say that's good...
I respect everyone and harbor no hate
I love all that is living
And remember the dead
It is against my beliefs
to harm anything or anyone
but if you dont believe me,
that's ok.
People are rude,
disrespectful
And most of us are still afraid,
Afriad that we will be persecuted again
for a crime...we didn't commit.
Everytime I tell someone, who I am...
I'm scared
Afraid that they'll judge me
because they don't understand
Afraid that they'll alienate me
because they dont understand
Afraid that they'll judge me...
because they believe I'm something I'm not.
But my beliefs are not all that I am...
I am a poet
A story teller
a listner
a friend
A listner
a helper
an artist
A role model
understanding
Honest
A hero
a life save (human, animal and insect alike)
I am--a wisher
a dreamer
A hoper
a needer
A wanter
a laugher
A cryer
I'm so much more than the assumed ideas
I'm so much more than you Thought
And as someone once said to me "Dont think--Know."
Stop looking at someone
and Summing them up
Stop trying to figure out
Who they are
before you say hello
Stop hating them for their difference...
and love them instead
Stop, empty your head of all those judging words.
Greet a new person with an empty slate
For it shouldn't be our differences
that seperate us so harshly
Because it is in our differences that lies
the similarities.
For people are who they are
And they do what they do
They love who they love
And it doesn't matter who
Because--they are living their lives and trying their best
Just like--
you
